If you are fortunate enough to have enough time to use Dubrovnik a base, it’s a perfect jumping off point to explore nearby attractions without worrying about the constant stress of moving about, catching a taxi, finding your hotel, unpacking and packing and unpacking every couple days or nights. You’re on holiday. Act like it.
Count on a richness of stone, the smoothness of which you will laugh about later, walls that jut above the sea a colour that most will only ever imagine. This is where you will live.

Dubrovnik in 1 Day (24 Hours)
Is 1 day in Dubrovnik enough?
No. But 24 hours in Dubrovnik will allow you to see some major sights, enjoy a good meal or two, and explore the UNESCO World Heritage site that is the Old Town. The key to a short stay is to pick a few key activities, make reservations for restaurants in advance, and plan according to the season. In the summer, it gets hot and crowded so don’t be too ambitious between the hours of 11:00-16:00. Go for lunch and have a swim.

Dubrovnik in 2 days (48 Hours)
Is 2 days enough in Dubrovnik? Not ideal but it’s a start! With a bit of extra time, you can plan your stay to avoid the busy periods when the cruise ships come into town (10:00-17:00). After you have seen the major sights, you’ll have time for a well deserved siesta. And with an extra day, you can embark on a day trip to explore the wonderful and nearby Lokrum island, have a great lunch & swim in the picture-perfect Mediterranean town of Cavtat, or simply enjoy a beach day at Sv. Jakov or Coral Beach Club.

Dubrovnik in 3 days (72 Hours)
Is 3 days enough in Dubrovnik? Now you’re talking! You won’t have to worry about spending your time in transit, finding your hotel, unpacking and packing. You’ll be able to relax and not have to cram everything in. Leisurely dips at the secret swimming spot near the Byron? Trying multiple flavours at your favourite gelato place? Properly experience the town? Yes! But more importantly, you’ll have the time to enjoy some amazing activities (i.e. cooking classes, farm-to-table restaurants, wine tours, buggy rides, ziplines, local markets, etc.)
Dubrovnik in 4 days and Beyond!
Is 4 days in Dubrovnik too much? Honestly, we’re a bit biased. We meant to spend a couple nights here 2o years ago… So do with that information what you will. But we think you are on the right track. Travel nowadays can be exhausting and stressful. So why not spend less time moving about and more time experiencing and enjoying a place as best you can? They say that Dubrovnik can be a tourist trap and not worthy of more than a couple days stay. We are tormented by that description because it can be so true (if you don’t know any better). For us, this is truly one of those special places in the world. And we want you to share it with you. If you’ve spent three nights in Dubrovnik, you’ve seen the sights, had great meals, relaxed and enjoyed the sea, explored nearby islands or towns, and have hopefully had a great farm-to-table meal at one of the local family run restaurants in a nearby village. Add in a great day trip nearby Mostar in Bosnia or Kotor in Montenegro and you’ll wish you had 5 days:)

We’re here to help give you a local perspective so that you can better plan your trip. We’ve broken it up into daily itineraries but please pick and choose what makes the most sense to you. Having recently travelled with our parents after a long hiatus, we found it a bit overwhelming to plan our trip. There were too many options, too much information. Here we have tried to give you a feel for what we think are the ‘bucket list’ items plus some unique and interesting tours & activities to enhance your stay!
